Boxing Day walk in winter light at Oxwich, Gower

The importance for body and soul of these silent, waiting days between Christmas and New Year I have tried to explore in my other blog Mistook Minx, so I won’t repeat myself. But the opportunity to reflect, restore and raise our gaze to the lengthening days should not be engulfed in a tinsel hangover, or tainted by some misguided guilt that we should somehow be up and at ’em, flinging ourselves immediately at yet more aspirational activity before we have looked inwards. I like this poem by Mary Oliver, which kind of expresses what I’m not expressing so well!
